Treasure Hunting in Belgium

You have heard the saying,
"One man's junk
is
another man's
treasure."
Well...
Here are a few
treasures
I found this week :)

I found this with a friend at a TROC, (a type of thrift/consignment shop) in Belgium.  Can you guess what it is?

A salt cellar!

A win from the Auction!  A Pair of little Antique Staffordshire Pups.

Purchased from a German Gal emptying the China Cabinet of her 93 year old Grandmother in Berlin!  Can you imagine what these beautiful little wine glasses witnessed!

Chateau d' Havre on a Foggy Belgian Afternoon

Chateau d'Havre was built in the 12th century, along the Haine river.
It was owned by the Enghien family.
In 1518 Havré Castle went to Philippe de Croy,
In March 1578 the castle was sieged by a small army.
Charles-Alexandre de Croy had the castle rebuilt in 1600 into a lavish residence.
Charles-Alexandre was a Knight of the Order of the Golden Fleece,
Chamberlain of Albert VII, Archduke of Austria and a Prince in the Holy Roman Empire.
He entertained the painter Peter Paul Rubens, Marie de Medicis, wife of King Henry IV of France, the Infanta Isabella Clara Eugenia of Spain, Mary of Hungary, Governess of the Netherlands, the Duke of Marlborough and the Prince of Savoy.

And this is only a few minutes from our home!

Just One Little Ebay.Be Purchase...

I went with a Friend
the other day
to pick up a purchase
she made on
ebay.be
and
this is the rest
of the
story
!

The bubble wrapped
round mirror in the center
of the table is the purchase
we went to pick up...6 flights of a
Belgian winding staircase
However
that is not
all we left with!

 These are the "suppliers"

A lamp I wanted,
but she wouldn't part with...
I will let you know the
end of that story later...
as I will try, try again :)

The lovely dashboard "prize" my friend was given
as she is 'with child' ...
he rode up front without a carseat
all the way back to our little
corner of the countryside
of
Belgium

Havre, Belgium Farmstead

An old Farmstead
in Havre, Belgium
The owner and his wife
have lived here since the 1960's
and it is chock full of
delights!
Welcome, browse, like anything?

Antlers anyone?

I could listen to this all day
in pristine condition from Germany

You can see the owner's reflection in the mirror,
wrapping up my purchase!

There are usually icons under these cloches
however
French Vases filled with flowers work too!

Very old, French Reproduction
I love the sweetness

Quite old, Louis XV Style

This is quite large, from England.  I think this would be lovely
as an island in a Farmhouse kitchen

From the Flanders region of Belgium
